What are the main culprits for the soft top not mechanically operating , can still be done manually ?

The seller wants £700 for the car , mot'd until dec but cambelt/waterpump need doing .

I guess it all depends on spec, age and mileage, all missing from your question

If it's a MK2 then roof flap sensors. Cheap fix.

Presumably a MK1 from the price though!
