Skoda Yeti 1.2 manual gearbox
Discussion
I bought a 64 reg Yeti from a Skoda main dealer, and was given to understand that it had been a courtesy car. It had 12,000 miles on it when purchased in March 2017.
Since then it has done an additional 16500 miles, so not exessive (8,000 per year).
I got a humming noise, and took it to the local Skoda main dealer, who have come back stating that they belive the gearbox bearings may be the problem and want to charge £4000 to put in a replacement.
a) Has anyone else had a similar problem with the 6 speed manual gearbox
b) How much should I be looking for it to cost to replace with an exchange box
£4000 seems an awful lot of money. I know it is outside the warranty, but I thought gearboxes should last a lot longer than that
Any help appreciated
