I have an Audi Q3 2.0 TFSi quattro black edition first registered March 2018 and has covered just 6k miles. On a 2 year contract hire.

About 2 weeks ago when driving in town there is a hesitancy for the car to go -like the car is self-braking or someone is dabbing on the brakes. My wife found same issue. Clunky! Sickening drive!

Audi Edinburgh on test drive said they felt the same issue. Yet, when they plug car in the diagnostics say 'no problem'. On the test drive Peter from Audi suggested it is an S-Tronic gearbox issue (at 1 degree below he said maybe gear box oil frozen but car still drives poorly when it much warmer) - yet their 'diagnostics' say all is well!

All is not well! Audi's reaction: "come take this car away!" - so I did. I almost expected this from Audi Edinburgh as they have a very poor reputation. They even sent me a video saying the tyre wear was fine and brake pads are fine on a 6k car - wtf? Like going into your doctor with broken leg and they say your fingers are fine.

I've since put car into Perth Audi (Camerons) for a second opionion as they not part of same Audi Lomond group. They too say "no problem, away and get lost".

There 100% IS a problem - the car drives like a bag of bolts driven by a shaking kangaroo with heavy feet!!

Via Twitter I contacted Audi UK Customer Care - they following the same company line "if the laptop says no fault there is no fault we can't comment further". baically - "do one!"

I've had 11 Audis and used to think the dealers and Audi were fair and cared. Not now. I have come across a new TT issue too.

My brother in law has new Audi TT coupe but water pours into the footwells. Audi Stirling told him to 'get stuffed' as unless components damaged by the water coming in, a leaking Audi TT isn't covered under Audi warranty!! He took car to bits himself and found a faulty seal. No apology from Audi - in fact the opposite.

Audi Edinburgh told me they know that all new shape new TTs have this water leak issue but will not fix it or do a recall. I am beginning to think Audi make crap cars and hate their customers. They are dishonest. I won't have another Audi even though an A4 saved my life in November 1998 when I was in a head on collision! Their attitude sucks. frown

I can see me having to take Audi to Court (luckily my frined is a Prof in Law and I won't pay full rates) - but what a pain. Wife won't drive the jerky unsafe Q3 car yet Audi finance take their £352 every month. Stuck in PCH until April 2020.

Any clues how to get fair treatment from Audi UK? They are in effect calling us liars and that is enough for me to say 'enough'. Their dealers are not mechanics anymore either.

Audi UK versus their customers. Their customer is always wrong!

So, they said to you to 'Get lost', 'do one', and 'get stuffed?'

It's either your attitude, or this didn't happen.

Anyhoo, better start practicing your letter writing skills.

This means AUK will normally open a case and investigate the issues.

I have had a few of their cars in the past, and i only had to contact AUK once, and that was off my own back, rather than after being fobbed off by a dealer.

Update - went for drive with senior technician at Audi PERTH.
He felt the resistant braking action of S-Tronic gearbox and is doing a reset/remap back to factory settings. He says gearbox ‘learns’ driver style?!?
Takes 2-3 hours.
Hoping this fixes issue.
But dealer denial there is an issue as a starting point isn’t my attitude smile - just annoying.

Look on the bright side, you don't have to buy Audis any more.

Cheers

I am 'off' the Audi brand.

Hope VW better as just ordered tonado red Golf GTi Performance, manual box, for £198+ vat a month on a 2 year deal - 6 payments down.

It's a 3rd car but was too cheap to let it go!

Kew Leasing - Tim sorted it - avoid Central Vehicle Leasing UK as they use crap French finance company whom are too slow and will reject you
anyway!

Not had a GTi since 1990 H plate 16v!

Guess you never learnt your lesson then.

Could have least strayed a bit further from the Audi brand than going straight for their parent company.

Oh well, not like you actually own any of the cars if they do go wrong anyway.

You can get out of PCP deals you know? Get a valuation on the car, take that off the finance then give it them back or swap it for something different.

Cheers. To be fair as a 3rd car (others are 911.2 and a 10 year old TT) this is the 2nd Q3 quattro we have had ....and have never had any bother and delaers been fine. Goes well in snow too.
Found it strange to meet such a resistance to examing the car for the fault.
Have no great expectations of VW dealers (esp where they don't supply the car) but hope relaibility of GTi can hold up for 2 years an 10k miles - we will see!

Clunky! Sickening drive!
Expect many posts doubting your story. And your ability as a driver. Possibly as a man.

iainwish said:

You will be told this was a mistake and you should have sued/returned the car.

iainwish said:

You will be asked incredulously why you took it there in the first place, and told that all Audi dealers have very poor reputations.

See previous comment.

Your driving skills will be questioned.

You will be excoriated for this. Absolutely slaughtered. I can't see a way back from this one. personally.

iainwish said:

You will be laughed at for this. Loudly.

iainwish said:

You will be welcomed like an old friend arriving at a country pub for this insight.

Expect to be told that all Audis are rubbish, and leak like sieves.

Expect to be told that all Audi dealers are rubbish. And that your account of what was said is untrue.

iainwish said:

Expect to be told this is not what they told you.

Expect to be told it's not; it's all VAG; everything made by VAG is crap.

iainwish said:

Expect to be told you've paid far too much. But that manual gearboxes are the only gearboxes worth having.

iainwish said:

Expect a lecture on buying unnecessary things you can't afford because you need credit to buy them.

Expect something about Brexit.

Expect adulation for that one. And questions about what colour it was (what colour was it? Mine was Oak Green).

iainwish said:
quattro ... Goes well in snow too.
Expect to be told that Quattro is no better than RWD or FWD in the snow; that it's not proper Quattro as its a Haldex diff not a Torson diff; and that snow tyres are the only way to drive safely in the show.

iainwish said:

That's not true.

However it does learn things like how much pressure to put on the clutch plates etc to compensate for wear. So it's possible a reset might fix it.

Unless the car is absolutely horrendous I'd just drive it though. It's not like it's yours, and it's going back in a year. I drove a company lease car for 18mths and 40K miles with wicked hesitation and the engine management light on - I put it into the dealer a couple of times and it would stay off for a few days then come back on again.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Golf GTI. My partner has one and its quick comfortable and handles well. The mpg is decent given the performance.
No problems so far with the local Vw dealers in Aberdeen.
Great car though perhaps too refined to have a GTI badge.

I’m getting a similar problem in my 2018 Golf R DSG. Seems hesitant/bunny hops slightly in gear changes of 1-2 and 2-3. Generally more pronounced with light throttle input.

It’s fking annoying.
