Audi A5 convertible
Discussion
I've had both in the past.
A5 off the road after a lorry driver decided Whatsapp was more interesting than looking where he was going. Insurance company gave me the above described Mercedes as a loaner (for the record I told them anything Golf/1 series/A3 or equivalent was all I needed). Merc was in AMG Sport trim.
Loads of standard kit and comfy seats, however infotainment, engine, stereo, and wind noise (with or without deflector) were poor. Engine was a gruff old thing too, sounded a generation or two behind the Audi. Boot smaller too.
A5 cabriolet of that age (you're probably looking at 2013ish) I quite like, obviously not a new model any more but the navigation works well and remains totally usable, buy with a few options and the interior is still a nice place to be. I'd want heated seats and navigation plus inside as a minimum.
The 2.0 TDI of that age is fine, it's reasonably refined (as four cylinder diesels go) and returns sensible economy. Multitronic box of this age is reliable (observice 40k mile oil changes) and a lovely, smooth thing. If you like whipcrack reactions this is not the car for you but if you're more chilled behind the wheel it's absolutely ideal. I rather like the 'zen' driving style I find it promotes, a nice, seamless surge of torque that suits the character of the car.

I really like the A5 Convertible. The one I had for a bit last year was the newer shape in 2.0 TDI form with the DSG7 'box. It's a fantastic engine and it actually felt surprisingly quick given the 190PS power output. Also seemed every quiet and refined so suited the Cabriolet well, never once was I wanting for a petrol. Great mile muncher on the motorway, did Manchester and back in one day (350 miles) and got home in the evening feeling pretty relaxed.

As mentioned on your other thread I've been out in an E220d which was a plate older (2016) and I wasn't as impressed. Seemed to feel a lot heavier and lumbersome with a much less refined engine. I haven't tried the 250.
BMW 420d may be worth a look too, they've come down in price quite a bit and always get well rated for their handling and performance.
