New Polo GTi. Is there a master list of VW dealer stock ?
Discussion
Doubt there is much, if any in dealer stock. I have just ordered one and it is still a 40+ week wait for them on a fresh order, I nicked a dealer demo that is due to be built this week. The dealer I have bought from still hasn't been able to get their hands on a demo GTi even though they have ordered a few.
I wanted a GTi+ in Reef blue with Bresicas, climate and the deep iron dash (instead of the red), I am getting the model\colour\climate\dash I wanted but no Bresicas and it has a few options I didn't want (reverse camera, blind spot, winter pack, pre-collision prep) but managed to negotiate the price down enough to not be bothered.
I know my dealer (Manc VW) are getting a cancelled order one in a week or so that they plan on registering as a demo, is a red GTi+ with Bresicas and some other extras (not sure which) that they would probably be happy to sell to a customer.

From what I can tell lots of reasons, demand for the new Polo in general, there was a long factory shut down late last year due to strikes (all right hand drive Polo's are built in SA now), WLTP testing and adjustments (they have had to stick GPF's on the 2019 models), they do seem to be starting to catch up a little bit at the factory (people given build week 11 getting alerted that their car is in transit at the end of week 10 etc) but some of them have been waiting since May last year.
Also once the car is built you are still looking at 8'ish weeks for it to be shipped from Port Elizabeth in SA where they are built, they go to Emden in Germany and then get shipped to the UK (Grimsby normally) and then have to wait for a transporter that's heading to your dealership.
I wouldn't have ordered if I wasn't able to jump the queue.
Your best bet would be to go on Carwow\Drivethedeal and put in what you want and then when the offers start coming in ask the dealers if they can get their hands on one faster than having to wait for a factory order, but be prepared to be flexible on spec\colour, though personally I wouldn't consider a none + model due to the nice extra kit they have.

If there's no stock cars anywhere (and for a model in demand that's pretty typical) then your best bet is going to be brefriending dealers in your area and asking often if there's any availability on a demonstrator or cancelled order.

Pfft, there's always one on every forum!! lol
It's a basic entry requirement around these parts
There are about 30 Polo GTis for sale on Autotrader - new and low mls, so it's not impossible to find one.
Nearly all are being sold by VW dealers, so I would still assume that they have cars coming through the supply system. It would just be useful to compare what's currently for sale with what might be arriving soon.

Once you remove the ones on Autotrader that aren't actually GTi's there about 22 used ones, looking at them most are standard GTi's not GTi+'s (I don't know why anyone would order one without the plus pack on it) and if you are planning on financing via PCP will cost more per month than a new one.Nearly all are being sold by VW dealers, so I would still assume that they have cars coming through the supply system. If you want a list of "approved" ones nationally they should be listed on the VW.co.uk website in the used cars section, if you were after new then it will be a case of speaking directly to dealers.
As I said mine is a car that was already ordered and available to be snagged (is being built right now, I only ordered it 2 weeks ago) but I was a little bit flexible with the spec, not much though.
For new and a faster delivery go to a dealer that is part of a large group like I did,VW Manchester are part of the Inchcape group, Lookers also have a few VW dealers as well, as they are more likely to have dealer demo cars already in the queue and some cancelled customer order cars that they have kept in the queue, I had the choice of 2 cars with a confirmed build week (so due to be built within 4 weeks) when I started inquiring.
GTi+ has, over the standard GTi, LED headlights, power folding door mirrors, dark tinted glass (65%) B pillar back, keyless entry\push button start, Adaptive Cruise control (with traffic assist) and 10.5" digital LCD screen instead of dials.
Oddly climate control is still optional on both of them, mine has the option ticked though.

I actually was looking for a nearly new (12-18 month) old Golf GTi when I decided to go for the Polo, it worked out much cheaper on finance.
There will be no "master" list of cars in dealer stock as VW dealers are not owned by VW UK, the closest you will get is by looking at the used car section on Volkswagen.co.uk and search for Golf GTi's BUT not all dealers will list all their cars on there.

OK, been away and back on the case, as I really need the car in April (May at a pinch).
Been offered a few Polo GTi+ models, some described as 'Cancelled Orders' but need a few 'must haves' - Climate or Sunroof, Heated Seats, Navigation, Jacara, Any colour except Black.
My dealer (Inchcape) has been very helpful, but any other recommendations appreciated.
thanks

Try another dealer group who has a few VW dealers such as Lookers, though Inchape are the largest so I'd consider one of the ones you have already been offered.Been offered a few Polo GTi+ models, some described as 'Cancelled Orders' but need a few 'must haves' - Climate or Sunroof, Heated Seats, Navigation, Jacara, Any colour except Black.

My car was built last week (build week 12) and is sat on the docks at Port Elizabeth in SA waiting for a ship (one due in today that is known to carry VW's from there to Emden in Germany which is where the cars go before being shipped to the UK), I don't expect to see it for at least 6 weeks, so take that in to account when grabbing a cancelled order that hasn't been built yet.
I got the model I wanted (GTi+), the colour (Reef Blue) most of the extras I wanted (climate, "winter pack" but not the 18" alloys) but had to take some I didn't want (backup camera, blind spot monitoring and pre-crash) though I negotiated the price down enough to not care about paying for them.
OK - a lot of time and effort, and had virtually given up, but I finally found one to my preferred spec
Anyway, all good and looking forward to its arrival. However, not keen on the standard or optional wheels - 17" Parker or 18" Brescia - don't like the fussy black and diamond cut design.
So, be interested in some alternative options - 7.5 x 18 VW or reputable alternatives. I'll post another thread that's a bit more specific.
