Hello all,

This is a specific one for those who have dealt with VW's MDI system.

I currently have a MK6 2009 Golf with the MDI connector under the arm-rest. At the moment there is an MDI to Female USB dongle plugged in. So naturally I connect my Lightning charging cable to the dongle with my phone.

However....the RCD310 says that the device is not supported (or something along these lines).

Why is this the case? Do I need an MDI to lightning cable? or is an Iphone X just not gonna work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, did you ever find a solution to this? I've just bought a 2011 Golf Match and having the same problem

MDI to old Apple 30-pin Dock connector, and an official Apple Dock to Lightning adapter.

This worked fine on both our old 2011 Polo 6R with MDI, and on my 2012 Audi A4 with AMI (same cable). Granted this was with an iPhone 7, but it should be the same with any generation of Lightning based iPhone.

Hi there,

I ended up buying an VW MDI bluetooth adapter from eBay for £15. You plug it into the MDI port and it also comes with a usb cable attached that goes into your typical phone charger USB port for power.

Then select MDI on your stereo and pair your phone. It's got crystal clear audio. I was really impressed.

Hope this helps.
