Aum 1.8t golf GTI problems!??
Discussion
Hey I'm really truly stuck guys😔 I have a aum1.8t 02 golf GTI and I had a weired problem where my car wasn't idling right and it would sometimes be really slow to pull off. I changed to stage 2 coils and put NGK plugs in and solved nothing, I changed the MAF and seen no change, I changed to H2O sensor and still had no change!! So I changed to a stage 2 ECU and put a 3inch down pipe on 2 days ago hoping it was a bad tune, yesterday it drove insane! It was a new car but it still felt a little rough at idle?? I went to get food with my fiance and I lost all throttle response and the eps light is it came on? So I pulled over and restarted it and it drove fine after?! So now it's this morning and I'm going back to the garage to ensure my 02 wires are tucked safely away and do some other bits and peaces but on my way home it drove like crap! I don't know how to explain what my car is doing, it's like breaking up under load and it feels like I'm towing a lorry when I'm driving! The 2 step sounds week and then suddenly it will start banging again? The ECU does have an SAI delete and mine is still installed so I don't know if that may have anything to do with it? I'm stuck here! Someone shed a little light!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Have you scanned your car for any logged fault codes? Thanks!
No I have literally just ordered a code reader so I'll be having a look as soon as that comes! But I am going to go and check my coils now because after reading up about this it could be ignition break up, but it's so irregular that I'm not sure? Sometimes it will boost to 5/6thousand then drop boost suddenly and start holding itself back and sometimes it wont go from as low as 3 thousand? Plus I know these are pretty bad on fuel when pushing power but I'm getting 5mpg when I'm wide open, is that right or is it running super rich?
Looked good VW nut! I don't think it's a boost leak because of the inconsistency, it breaks up at different rpms everytime, it's like it has a mind of it's own! I would assume a boost leak would consistently break up the same?
And the MAF is a genuine Bosh one from fast parts. its had a code since I've owned the car so maybe it's that?
I'm going to try changing to my old ECU tomorrow and re connecting the 02 sensors to see if its the map

It sounds like it's going into limp mode who did the remap?
Defiantly sounds like it’s going into limp mode. I’d wait for your scanner to arrive or see if anyone is local to you. Vw nut your golf looks awesome. Have you done any engine upgrades? I saw you upgraded your brakes previously.

You still need your lambda sensor even if you have a cat delete map.And the MAF is a genuine Bosh one from fast parts. its had a code since I've owned the car so maybe it's that?

It's the secondary 02 that no longer gets used, plug your lambda back in it's obviously running a s
t mixture. What a mess. My advice - put it back to stock and iron out the issues one-by-one from a known good base. I bet if you had VCDS and a looked at the Advanced ID, it's been mapped. Has it got an aftermarket intake and exhaust? MAF sensor - dealer only. Euro Craparts or any other shat online supplier = shat. Trust me, been there, got 4 million T shirts.
Check the diverter valve hasn't broken up. It's classic DV / MAF surging by the sounds of it. You can also data log the MAF channel with VCDS to see if the readings are where they should be. Google is your friend.
As above, cat delete is simply a byte change from 1 to 0 on Bank 1, Sensor 2. You still need the primary sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) to manage the part throttle and idle fuel trims.
