This might sound really stupid but don’t you already have Bluetooth on this model?

Well it says I it says I can connect Bluetooth via my phone but that’s only for calls not to actually play music

Are you sure you don’t have a 3.5mm input under the centre armrest. I did on my 2008 a4 b8

There might be an aux port under the centre arm rest, but that might have depended on the radio model installed.

You've obviously got the SD card holder, no good for streaming but an SD card can hold 250GB+ of music.

Bluetooth just for calls, not music. Stupid idea, not sure why Audi didn't prep it for music and calls.

How big is your budget? There are a couple of fantastic replacement head units, with Andriod Auto/Apple Car play, full colour screen, sat nav etc, but you're looking at £1500 for something model specific and properly integrated with the steering wheel controls.

Do you know where the sd card slot is located ? I can’t seem to find that either.

To be honest I wanted to do it as cheap as possible, I’d like to avoid removing the whole unit.

Looking a bit closer, maybe you don't have an SD slot? It should be below the CD eject button and above the climate control knob, looked like it on the photo initially but now on closer inspection that might not be it.

If you look on the radio here, you can see the SD slot just to the right of the info button.

EDIT - I know you said you wanted to do it cheaply, and there are replacement units advertised on ebay or whatever, but this Alpine unit is the dogs bks and shows what can be done! Hard to justify the price though.

I have a B8 2014 and I can play stuff off my phone via Bluetooth.

I just select Bluetooth from media and it plays

Do you not have an Ami connection in the glovebox? If so you can get Bluetooth adapters fairly cheap.

I had a 2009 B8 a4. It had the lesser model headunit (single CD) and there was an AMI connection in the centre armrest cubby.

Needed an Audi cable to suit whatever phone you have.

I think it also had a 3.5mm audio jack in there as well - might be wrong on that though

I've got a 58 plate B8 with the lower model media player and like you I have no aux input but there is the Audi MMI at the top of the glovebox.
The socket is behind a black rubber cover, the socket itself is a long rectangle and different cables are available on Ebay etc. For not a lot of money.
You can get various cables for aux, USB, iPhone, android etc.
