I have a 2007 3.0 TDi cab with the Bose stereo option.
I was happily polishing and cleaning the interior a few weeks ago listening to the stereo, when it suddenly stopped playing.
The screen works, shows track playing off the memory cards, or the radio channel, but no noise. Similarly sat nav shows map but no spoken instructions.
A friend ran a VCDS fault find which showed the following:-

6 faults found
01616 -signal wire to interior monitor
79-10 -please check fault codes- intermittent
01616 -signal wire to interior monitor
79-10 -no communications- intermittent
01370- alarm triggered by interior monitoring
35-00 - -
01369 - alarm triggered by hood switch
35-00 - -
01371 - alarm triggered by door contact switch; drivers side
35-00 - -

None of that means anything at all to me!

Looking on line, one possibility seemed to be wiring harness to drivers door, this made sense, as i was in and out of the door, while cleaning. I pulled the rubber boot back today to look, hoping to see a broken wire, but they all look fine, although its hard to see much of them.

Anyone got any ideas please, before I take it to a specialist, I would like to fix it myself if at all possible!!

Wire failures between the door and body are a known fault after time. I've no idea what wire breaks or how to fix it, but at a guess door card off, test connections with multimeter or mark 1 eyeball, then replace broken bit with some blocks and a new bit of wire.

You need a proper VCDS scan to give you a better picture, but all of that looks like normal central locking/alarm faults and nothing to do with the stereo.

I think some good old fashioned fault finding is likely to be needed - I'd hazard a guess at a blown Bose amp if it was sudden, the unit is still operating, and there's no outward signs of faults. If you were cleaning the car it's possible it's water damage to the amp. They're quite susceptible to it......

Hi
Thanks for replies so far.
I wasnt washing it at the time, i was polishing it and cleaning interior. I do know that on the estates there was an issue with water from rear screen wash pipe getting on amp and frying it.
I cant even find out where the amp is on a cab??

Those codes then, are they an indication of another fault then, cos there does not seem to be anything wrong with alarm, or central locking?
