Car order delay dilemma
Discussion
Hi all -
I'm wondering if you can help with some advice. We have ordered a new Tiguan Allspace as we are expecting child number 3 to arrive imminently. I was told last night that the ordered has been delayed by at least two months which means that we have no way of travelling as a family together.
VW will not compensate or provide an vehicle to help us out - is this normal? Any suggestions on how to manage this welcome!
Thanks in advance.

Sorry I don't get why compensation is needed. Was there a contract signed to say delivery was 100% guaranteed to dd/mm/yyyy ? I'm sure the small print would say any delivery is subject to delays. Did you read it ?

If you're not to fussed about the exact spec, phone a few dealers and see what's on the shelf.
Due to family circumstances we needed to quickly go from a Octavia VRS to a higher 7 seat car, found a brand new unregistered Kodiaq which nearly met our prefered spec and 3 days later is was on our drive.
That's if you can cancel the order.

Apparently the Mobex scheme finished last May.
I’d dig a little. I know someone who had a car through the Mobex scheme last September. Out of interest when did you originally order and what delivery date was estimated at the time? Have you heavily optioned up the car?
Has the dealer made any suggestions or offers around alternatives such as a "standard" car already built or scheduled for production sooner than your factory build?

Hi - the car was ordered in February with the estimated delivery date being July. The dealer has come back with absolutely no suggestions at all despite our situation.Has the dealer made any suggestions or offers around alternatives such as a "standard" car already built or scheduled for production sooner than your factory build?
The only options we had was leather which I wouldn't anticipate being uncommon.
I'm waiting on a new VW to be delivered, they seem to have awful logistics when it comes to cars built outside of the EU (mine is coming from South Africa), my dealer mentioned that he is waiting on 4 Tiguan Allspace's which are at least 2 months late so far with no updates from VW, they are made in Mexico with the North America cars.
I have a friend who lives in Canada who recently bought one and he had a choice of about 20 in stock at the dealers and was able to drive away with it the same day, his is very well spec'd as well.

Okay your only real option is threaten to cancel the order due it being so late, as I guess they're now saying September for delivery? Do you have the order code to put in the VW app and know what stage it is? e.g. stage 3 etc?
Also has your dealer mentioned what changes (if any) will occur to your order spec due it being a MY20 car rather than MY19, the cut off is production week 22, so anything built from today will be MY20.
Deliveries from Mexico are roughly 8 weeks from point the car is built to arrival at the UK dealer.

There's someone on the mk2 Tiguan forum who just got an Allspace and the factory in Mexico (where they're all built) forgot to fit area view even though it's standard on the model he ordered. VW have said they'll order him another but it'll take 10 months and he has to take the hit on the value of his current car if he wants to use it in the meantime.
Right now VAG have had a lot of people in courtesy cars for months because of the 1.5TSi engine issue.

They take the piss here, because we let them - no one in NA would dream of waiting for a common car. Google a dealer there and look at their inventory - they have tons of them and all well spec'd as standard.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
