I'm potentially going to buy an Audi TTrs over the weekend (pending ongoing negotiations)

Is there anything i should look out for/test before buying?

So far i think I've read up on squeaky brakes. Anything else? it's got a manual gearbox.

I picked up one myself about 6 months ago – absolutely love it. Cannot get enough of that engine.

Mine has pretty much been trouble free apart from a Vacuum leak which lead to having to replace the rocker cover. I don’t think there are too many “Common” Issues with them. Squeaky Breaks is definitely one , mine squeak like hell but I can live with it for now as I will be replacing Disks and Pads in the near future.

I have heard the manual clutches are not the strongest , so if you are thinking about Re-mapping you will probably need to budget for an uprated clutch. ( Mine is S-Tronic)

We have not had a problem with the manual box in over 5 years, let us know how you get on and I am sure you will not be disappointed obviously you will have to accept all the hairdresser abuse the first time you turn up at work smile

Thanks for the replies. There seems to be a bit of scare mongering on a dedicated forum with regards to the gearbox.

I've put a deposit down on this...

I won't be able to see it until next Saturday, but apparently 12 stamps in the book and the quattro has had its oil change. Fingers crossed its a good un!

Thought i'd give a little update.

So i had a phone call late last night telling me the car hasn't got its logbook so can not be taxed. Really disappointing given that they've had well over a week to get the car ready for collection this morning. Also frustrating having to change my insurance back over to my old car and be charged again for admin fees and change of policy. This is something i'll have to do and get charged again if i get the car.

Already down near £100 from the insurance changes

I'm not a happy bunny at the minute.

Regarding insurance, the smart thing to do would be to get a quote from your insurer and then activate the insurance on the phone when you pick the car up. Would've saved yourself 100 quid there.

I was under the impression that i had to give a few days notice when i change over. Obviously now not the case, but as i was on the phone at the time it made sense. < that was all done after i had a time and date confirmed by the dealership a few days before hand...
