VW Golf Light Issue

So,
I have a VW Golf MK4 on a 2003 plate .
The nearside headlamp has stopped working .
I have changed the bulb twice , checked fuses and even went to the scrappy to replace the actual light switch inside the car .
All to no avail .what am i missing here ? The dipped lights work , High beam and even the indicator too.
