Ant ownets of views out there?
Press reviews seem positive, but PH elicits lots of info / opinions. Interested in particular on the standard sound system (I'm a music freak).
Looking at a new one (dealer has a decent spec'd stock one) thought an R (I'm 45 if it matters) - but just had a 2 year old Touareg stolen and can do without that grief again. Thinking the GTI is a little less obvious, and the battlebus was a proper pain around London.
Thanks.

Im on my 2nd MK7.5 GTI Performance.
Fantastic car as a daily driver. Quick enough, great on fuel considering and just does everything perfectly.
Reasons to go for the R over a GTI Performance is if your needing AWD for your area of the country, care about 0-60 times and for bragging rights to own the top model.
Once rolling and if the GTI has traction, there isnt much between the R and GTI with in gear pulls.

Cheers. AWD not really a requirement in London. Needs to be zippy. How do you find the stereo? I tend to spec the upgraded one - but this is stock so have to take as it is (although I could add aftermarket I guess). I've had a mk v gti before and was impressed. More grown up than the Civic (which the child in me likes).

I just have a standard GTI Performance 2019 year build with the only options being DSG, 5 door and the metallic paintI find the standard equipment level absolutely fine with the standard stereo. The 2019's have keyless and the reversing camera as standard now
I also think the GTI is the better looking out of the performance Golf range, the red stripe across the front is awesome
Had mine (pre-facelift) since February and put about 6k miles on it so far; it's absolutely everything I want/need in an every day road car.
35MPG on cheap unleaded without trying, inexpensive tyres, brakes, and servicing, enough power to have fun, not too much to get yourself in trouble, still easy to do supermarket runs, quiet and comfortable on the motorway.
To my mind it is the best 'normal car' on the market.
