Has anyone gone from a Subaru or Evo to a Golf R?
Discussion
I'm struggling to find user comments who have lived with a Subaru or an Evo then gone to a Golf R. I currently have a Forester Sti which is great for the dogs and load lugging plus it shifts.
Most reviews I read compare the Golf to the new WRX which isn't the same beast or they compare it to a Focus or similar.
I know the Golfs engine doesn't sound anywhere near as impressive but as a fast estate it seems rather capable and the tuning potential is huge.
I guess what I'm asking is how does a Golf R feel on the road in the 4wd aspect, a Subaru or Evo as long as the nose is pointing in the right direction you can boot it and wet weather isn't really a problem. Is the Golf similar in this respect or does the Haldex system delay the grip or make it a little more twitchy in the rain.
I'd be looking at an estate and taking it to stage 2.
