I find myself in Germany pretty often for work, speak the language, and know how to export a car from Germany the correct way; lately I've been looking at Jetta Coupe's, mostly 1.6's in basic attire. I'm not sure how difficult a RHD conversion is on them, but I have a certain temptation to import one & see what the story is. What's the feeling? Any love for these?

Interestingly a mate of mine has brought 4 or 5 jetta coupes to the uk and currently has an immaculate 1983 one of sale at the moment...

Plenty and I mean plenty of people have told him how cool it is, how rare it is but no one has got their cash out! His is left hand drive still, am automatic and a wimpy engine but it's not overly hard to convert them as there are plenty of mk2 golfs/jetta being broken up. rhd would be a major selling point.

Also engines, the jetta coupe typically has 1.3/1.6 petrol or 1.6 diesel engines, perhaps GTI powered ones would be more desirable.

Mate has one, it's RHD, don't know if it was built that way or converted.

Had many heart transplants over the years:

Original (no idea what)
1.8t
2.8 24v VR6
R32

Currently being fitted with a 2.0 TFSI

2.0 tsfi sounds interesting, I know a few people who have cracked the wiring side of things and I expect over the next few years the tfsi will replace the 20vt as the go to conversion.
