So my car has been at vw for over a week they did the service and gearbox service and diff service (performance pack),

They spotted a coolant leak from the thermostat housing and a knackered wishbone bush so replaced under factory extended warranty, got the car back yesterday all seems well but they’ve called me today to say the car needs to go back in they’ve had an email from vw that the thermostat needs basic parameters loading up?? Surely it’s a mechanical part what are they on about they wouldn’t rly go into detail only they want the car for half n hour?

Just seems a little fishy and wondering what they’re upto

I imagine it's an electro mechanical part so it could require some kind of adaptation running that they forgot to do? Possibly?

Not something I have heard of, but thats all I can think it could be.

See I’m rly surprised it needs any adaptation, in previous cars just been a simple mechanical part you change over and jobs a good un

Electronically-controlled thermostats have been a thing for years.
