Golf yet again causes me issues this month. At least it’s not the kind with a club this time.

2004 golf bought for steplad to learn in and run about. It’ was not pristine when we got it, and it has since had a collision with. House which did it no favours. It’s had a bodge repair including a Virgin unpainted wing. The engine management light is on, it has an external water leak and currently won’t start so is stranded in his works car park. He has bought a new car today, so it’s now also uninsured and stranded.

I’m hoping that the not starting is the stupid buffer did not put fuel in it. Assuming that is the case I think I can get it home third party on my cover.

But I’ve then got another car at home. I need it gone. It has 6 months test.

Is there any value in sticking it on the Facebook groups at £250 or am I just scrapping the thing?

Any ideas? It’s just pissing me off.

eBay, 5 day auction, 99p start and let it run. If it’s a diesel even better. It will go across to Eastern Europe.

The driving other cars part of your fully comp insurance almost certainly only applies if the car you want to drive third party has a valid policy of insurance on it.

How so? Explain. I am allowed to drive any other car with the owners permission, and also any other car in order to move it for the sole purpose of removing it from obstructing my car.

Usually standard T&C as part of the driving other cars part. Been on every policy I've had. Basically it stops traders buying a policy for £250 and driving everything 3rd party.

Personally I'd head down and put a gallon of fuel in it and see if it'll start. If it starts and runs then stick it on eBay for 99p reserve with good pics and a decent description.

Pretty much every policy I've had over the last 15 years has said words to the effect of "provided the vehicle is covered by a valid policy of insurance". I'm not saying they all do, but it's been on most of my policies with only a couple of exceptions.

As was said earlier most insurance policies now state that yes you can drive other cars with owners permission but that vehicle must still have valid insurance on it and it will only cover you third party
