Long life extra service cost ?
Discussion
I am looking to get my Seat Leon serviced at the local dealer and was quoted £225 for a minor long life service. There is also a annual service quoted at £185 for the minor service. There seems to be confusion at the dealer as to what the extra £40 is for. One guy tells me they use long life oil on the long life service which makes it more expensive. Another guy at the dealer said for a diesel car with a dpf which mine is they use the long life 507 graded oil regardless of what service. Does this mean the long life service is a rip off or is there actually extra work carried out with the long life service?

What's your typical annual mileage OP?
30-35 k a year As above, 99% of dealers will use the same oil for 10k or longlife, so it's taking the pee to charge differently, aside from the fact that they can. They'll still see you twice a year, so just ask them to discount it. If they won't price match the non-longlife service just go somewhere else.
Got to be worth looking at an indy specialist rather than main dealer? At the rate you're racking up miles it's not as if not having a main dealer history is going to significantly impact on retained value!
