Hello all,

A little while ago I made a post on the forum about a creaking sound I was experiencing with my 2016 Golf when going over bumps and had some useful replies with suggestions of possible causes.

I have now noticed that the car also makes a creaking sound when steering at low speeds, or on the rare occasion of some slight dry steering (not that I do it often but for example when parking).

I have included a video below that demonstrates this, please note the sound in the video is NOT of the tires on the road, but it is a metallic creaking sound that seems to come from the back underside mostly but then also front underside of the car.

Any ideas what the cause of this could be?

Please note, the car has already had its front shock absorbers and top mounts replaced.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sorry I can’t help but our new golf r estate does this. It will be going in for investigation when I can get around to it. It started at about 5k Miles so doubtful it’s a worn item.

My 7 did it but my 7.5 didn't. VW never managed to fix it in 2 years.
