Launch cars in dealers now, odd spec somewhere between Carbon and Vorsprung, but they won't be officially launched until 26/1 so no test drives just yet. My dealer's car is Nardo and was sitting, unprepared, in their presentation bay so a bit harsh to judge but I didn't think the colour did anything for the lines of the car, it also looks very wide, too wide maybe. I have a test drive booked and will post impressions, I am hoping that the launch car has air as I want to judge it against DRC which I have in my current car (C7PE), it's an option I may not go for next time.
I'm hearing discounts of @10%, but nothing concrete, though I have to say that the M5 Comp looks extremely tempting with the discounts available, maybe I will sell the dog and banish estate cars from my life forever!

I test drove one on Wednesday with Air suspension, placed an order following that.
I don't think anyone is discounting from the discussions I've had (if I am wrong be gentle as my deposit is paid!).
Estimate for delivery has been given as July by the dealer but that's just their estimate as opposed to anything from Audi themselves.
Impressions in case helpful (but sure you'll make your own minds up!): The car didn't feel big to drive, it certainly grabbed some attention on the road and looked amazing to me. The air suspension was fantastic, I hit a pothole during the drive - I turned to apologise to the dealer as I saw the thing just too late to avoid it and expected a massive thump (22" wheels), I didn't feel a thing! Power didn't feel harsh or uncomfortable just a massive reserve where needed, really impressive. Sound was good but definitely more muted than eg the M5 or the M850i. The overarching feeling I was left with was one of a real luxury, comfortable car that had solid handling and more than enough power...until of course I have it for two months and start looking at remap sites! It didn't feel as twitchy or responsive as a purely sports oriented car from a handling perspective.
In short if your priority is the quality and comfort end the RS6 with air suspension is probably a shoe in. If you are more interested in the pure sports side then either the other suspension (which I haven't tried) or something M5 or AMG badged would be preferred. I was looking at the M5 (definitely some amazing deals on those at present) or M850i Gran Coupe as alternatives - I preferred some elements of the BM interior but ultimately the flexibility of the RS6 form factor swang it for me.
The biggest pain in the backside is that it looks like I now have a long wait!!!

Someone on RS246 claims to have negotiated £12k off, it could be bull though, certainly sounds generous to me. When I ordered my current RS6 a couple of years ago I had the opportunity to compare DRC with Air and opted for DRC because I found that the Air car wallowed too much for my liking, I would add that I don't hang the tail out.
Be interested to know what spec you opted for, I am a little bemused by the new options system, it seems restrictive and unnecessary to me and I am hoping it will be relaxed in time, even silly things like debadging is now not available, though it's something I have always opted for. Keep us posted, I'm sure the time will fly!!!

Due to WLTP, they will try to bundle the optional extras as much as possible, hence having the model versions. I need to contact my local dealer for a test drive, however my fear is the RS6 is a little too big for my needs, coming from an RS5. I heard most dealers have around 3-4 in their allocations, however from a discount perspective, I am sure these are not flying off the shelves, they will be going deals. I hear M5 stock engine power is super conservative, I wonder if the same for RS6? Yes, it is 'entertaining'. I went with the standard trim, all the packs, 22" wheels, panoramic roof and a few other bits and bobs. I'd have ideally wanted the head up display but that wasn't available with my trim level...I started getting things I didn't want with the other specifications which put me off going for those.I will probably get the silver trim at the back that goes over the exhausts from one side of the car to the other wrapped but aside from that am happy with how it's all worked out.

That’s funny, I was thinking Daytona (boring but my fave) with bigger wheels, comfort pack, roof and exhaust with tan leather. I would also wrap or paint the back trim and would be interested to know how it turns out if you do it. I like the idea of normal alloys again, last few cars have been diamond cut and they cost a fortune to repair after the inevitable kerbing, especially in a car this wide. I’d advise you to pop onto RS246 to check out others delivery times and discounts. Local dealer has their “Launch Car” in the showroom. Was initially all covered up and hidden but looks like they have followed suit of all the dealers and removed covers now.
Mine is in build this week so hoping it arrives with the dealer for the end of the month. Trying to decide whether it’s worth holding on for 4 weeks and getting it on a 20 Plate or if I should just jump straight in ?
Haven’t spoken to anyone who has driven one so great to read the feedback.
Have to say in the showroom it has real presence and an incredibly wide and a squat stance.
Re waiting till July for a new order that seems really long for a new order. People are still being quoted March for cars unless the last few weeks have seen a surge in orders as the press releases and teasers have been coming out.

Interesting on your delivery date, do you mind if I ask how long your order has been in for?Mine is in build this week so hoping it arrives with the dealer for the end of the month. I was shocked on the lack of spec available on the car and in the end went for the Nardo Vorsprung with painted calibers and Leather pack.
Will see when it arrives as quite fancied a matt finish however probably easier/cheaper to run with a wrap.

I had been speaking to the dealer about the new car for a while and asked them to let me know when they would take a deposit. Last year around late summer from memory I gave them a £1000 returnable deposit as an “intention” to order. To be fair to the dealer they then contacted me each time a snippet of info was released although frustratingly for them the internet often beat them too it. I was shocked on the lack of spec available on the car and in the end went for the Nardo Vorsprung with painted calibers and Leather pack.

I went into the dealer early November as soon as the spec and ordering system was due to go live and we went through the choices / lack of choices.
As we all know the choices are pretty poor, in reality it was only a choice of the three specifications and by the time I added what I wanted the Vorsprung was the only sensible choice.
It’s a shame that they have held back on all the interior choices of trim and colour ways but apparently those options add many hours to the production process and changeover times. Supposedly Audi didn’t want to create backlogs for delivery and wanted to simplify the order process.
To be fair to Audi I have noticed this with Mercedes too. We ordered a new V Class and the choices were basically stripped out taxi spec, simple spec with the option to change seats or fully monty AMG Sport Line with all the options inside inc fridge upgrade stereo etc. Safety Packs the give you cruise and distance control and wing mirror warning etc. But you cannot chose one or the other.
At the same time i was speaking to a dealer who order from Germany and I could have spec’d each and every option separately as well as choose different leathers and colours etc
I think it is the new tax rules that drive this - there is something about manufacturers having to test each spec they offer and adding loads of options makes the testing process hugely onerous!
The Vorsprung looks like a great choice - I wanted specific things that were oddly in the lower spec so paying the extra and then trying to remove some items didn’t seem the right way to go 😂

I think you are correct testing and certification plays a larger part than we give credit for. The Vorsprung looks like a great choice - I wanted specific things that were oddly in the lower spec so paying the extra and then trying to remove some items didn’t seem the right way to go ??
In the back of my mind I also think that quietly back Audi UK headquarters the finance, sales and marketing bods will be thinking how will we do we justify an extra £10k + price increase or so when we launch the performance edition knowing that all of the established tuners ABT, MRC and DMS will already have established significant power upgrades by the time the Performance is launched. Worse still all of the tuners will have exceeded anything that Audi will fit to their performance models. Mate this with an exhaust from Miltek and Audi have an uphill challenge to keep up.
My bet is that the Performance will have additional options to chop and change interior colours etc
Order has now appeared in the Audi Tracker...now I just have to try not to check it every 30 mins for changes LOL.
