Audi a3 1.6 EGR. Petrol
Discussion
Hey guys.
So long story short my 2001 audi a3 1.6 started pinging on part throttle because of really messy egr. I noticed that pipe that goes to throttle is full of black crap, so I think everything else is just a mess. Anyways, cleaning it is insane because of how the engine is placed, everything is one the rear side, feels like you have to take the engine out to clean pipes and egr valve and so on. Because of that I just blocked it. Blocking didn't help, it was pinging the same. I disconnected MAF, it helped but It caused open loop.. So I connected it back and now i'm driving with disconnected sensor to the EGR so it's basically not effecting the mixure anymore, because blocking it only, did not prevent ecu to count in exhaust gasses into the mixure. Anyways. Im driving with CEL code and I can hear it slightly pinging after driving couple of hours.. What should I do ? Should I map it out or somehow clean the whole system ? Help

Easiest option is to map the function out, you can do this through the Carly app on your phone or with Ross Tech software if you have it.
Second easiest is to block it off with a ‘solid gasket’ which is like a normal
Gasket but without the hole in the middle.
Lastly remove, clean and refit but beware that you’ll be doing the same every year or so

Blocking it didn't work as it was still effecting the mixure even tho gas was blocked from going in into the engine.. ECU still took it as it was going in into the engine and creating the mixure with gas included and that created pinging. I think it makes sense.. So yeah, I think the best option is too map it out. How it will effect the engine ? Won't it go too hot ? Because mostly people are deleting and mapping it out on diesel engine, there are really not much info about EGR delete on petrol engines
