Does a cambelt need changing at a certain mileage or age?
Discussion
The A4 I'm thinking of getting has done 62k miles, the other A4 is at 89k miles.
One is on a 64 plate the other 65.
Seems manual states 133k miles for a change and no mention of age. If I look on the net everyone seems to change it at 5 years of age regardless of mileage. Fair point but surely Audi should know that their belts last and the manual should be right no??

The manufacturer computer simply states a mileage; in the case of a lot of late cars this is 140k miles. If you send me your chassis number I'll show you exactly what Audi state.
The franchise dealers "recommend" 5 years/75k.
There's probably a happy medium there somewhere as belts are cheap and engines are not.

Not bought it yet but Audi dealer said 140k or 5 years- which means December this year for the one I'm getting. The franchise dealers "recommend" 5 years/75k.

Would you feel confident with that recommendation? B9 with 90K on it.
