I have an 8J TT and this is a short story of the perseverance, a bit of Jay Leno wisdom and the power of PistonHeads recommendations

The Basics
(2010/11 MY cross-over)
8J
Chain (Not belt)
A good purchase price in November 2018
Low miles <35000
A reasonable Service History

An autumn afternoon in 2018 and the TT itch needed scratching. A week later and allow miles (I know - but eyes open) TT 2.0 TFSI came home.
Two weeks of trouble free motoring - yes there were a few things - I wanted to update the ICE and get a good service done but otherwise nice.

On a trip back from Lincolnshire on a damp evening up pops ESP and a few miles later CEL. Both cleared after a 5 minutes key out reset.

And so this would continue for the rest of 2018 and 2019 - sporadic fault lights - mostly ESP occasionally CEL. All daily cleared by key out or the very basic £15 OBD reset scanner I have at home.

But.... I have OCD.. It niggled me and even though I went ahead and had a good fluid change, service and it passed an mot at a very reputable (but not specialist) indie I was still niggled.

Working with a bit of engineering logic I want about changing to MAP sensors - no change, dealt with another 2.0 TFSI fault - the check temperature warning - clean the probes in the tank!

I was convinced that a wiring loom was chaffed - the problem (ESP warning) occurred on damp days within 9 minutes of start-up. Meanwhile P0106 Baro pressure was the only fault reading I was presented with. I knew the fault was unlikely to be ESP (as I understand it that protocol is the first to engage on any fault read).. Serviced again, MOT, and a temperature sensor - nothing fixed it.

I did think about moving the car on but it gets plenty of good comments so - time to sort this out.

Through the power of PistonHeads I found a recommendation to europerformance in south wales - off we went

I described the problem in detail ahead of time
no performance degradation
sooty pipes (fffnnnaaarr!)
Random fault occurrence
Query wiring loom or sensor fault

Withing 5 house EP had my report.
Wiring loom degradation
two failed sensors (one non-genuine - opps - sorry)
No underlying significant faults - chain not belt
oh.. and the low tone horn is U/S!

Two weeks later and a thousand miles (despite COV19) absolutely no fault reoccurrence.
I gave E/P Just shy of £800 on
diagnostics, fault resolution (looms, sensors etc) and then
Full service including all fluids and brakes
DSG service

The work was done promptly and courteously, the invoice was detailed. There was none of that sucking air through teeth, it was simply:

Fault found
Fix is this
Cost is that ..

and we recommend a full service, brake fluid etc and DSG service

Pick up at 15:00.

I cannot recommend them enough. If you have a german marque and can travel to the M4 J33 (IIRC) save your time - life is short.

In these times of weirdness I think its good to spread good vibes and help companies service the temporary hiatus
I think its important to get out and enjoy cars not worry about irritating faults and putting your wallet in the hands of main stealers. Pistonheads helped me here.
I was pleased I have an OBD - its basic and now Im on the hunt for a better one - any recommendations?
