Hi everyone I'm new here and really need some guidance. Hope I've posted in the right place.
My 2005 a3 2.0 sportback
Has a rear wiper issue at 1st I thought it was just the wiper as I've also got the tale gate open light on as well which indicates its would be the washer leak issue but the wiper works if you put a ground to load side of the fuse for the duel washer pump but if you put the fuse back in it does nothing to say I'm a little confused would be an understatement can anyone please give me some directions on this as the motor has no water in it either but also does not work at all when you power it up
Thanks in advance for any advice given.

It is standard for most systems that they do not operate the rear wiper whilst boot is open.

Or are you saying I need to fix the tale gate switch to fix the issue

The issue will either be the microswitch on the tailgate lock or the wiring to it.

As has been said already, the wiper / washer is disabled if the boot is open. Although the boot may be physically closed, it still thinks itbis open reinforced by the indicator on the dash.

Thank you for your input guys I will get a new switch ordered and see if that cures it. I realised I was being dumb after I posted about the boot being shut. 🤦‍♂️ Will this aslo fix the washer jet on the boot to or is this just a blockage issue?

As I said, it also disables the washer so yes it will probably fix that too.

Ideally you need to take a look at the switch and latch area to work out what is wrong. Change the switch if it needs changing but it may not actually need changing. There is always that possibility

Replacing the boot latch fix both issues thank you guys. side not the washers were indeed leaking though the wipe motor gearing, which was obviously the original problem took the cover off the gears and put an o ring over the spindle which fix it so thank you.
Much appreciated
