Vw gtd exhaust speaker not working
Discussion
Can anyone help, my exhaust loudspeaker actuator has stopped working on my gtd. Checked under the car and it’s plugged in. Been looking online and can’t find anything about the speaker or how it works. The actuator behind the dash still works. Can anyone point me in the right direction ? Thanks

its part of the sport and sound pack on a mk7 golf gtd.
if fitted you get red brake calipers and the speaker thingy in the exhaust.
on sport and sound equipped cars the exhaust middle box is bigger and there's no back box just a straight pipe to the tail pipe.
On standard gtd when you select sport mode you get the soundaktor speaker fake noise.
On sport and sound equipped cars you get the soundaktor speaker fake noise plus the speaker thing in the exhaust.

Ok I'll ask the question again in a more direct way...
Why would you have a speaker to amplify a clattery diesel noise?
Or is it there to mask the clattery diesel noise to stop people sniggering at a car looking like a hot hatch with a diseasel in it?
Would think it makes a ‘better’ noise than the diesel engine? Why would you have a speaker to amplify a clattery diesel noise?

My S4 has a soundaktor - it’s one of the first things I disabled once I had VCDS, you can just pull the fuse though.
Fake noise has no place on any car IMO, especially not on an S4 that actually has a decent engine/exhaust note anyway.

Just pulled the connector from the one on my S5 two weeks after getting it - much better sound without.Fake noise has no place on any car IMO, especially not on an S4 that actually has a decent engine/exhaust note anyway.

I initially pulled out the fuse as that was the easiest way but when doing a VCDS scan that brings up an error so I turned it off in the configuration (set to 0%).Ideally I'd completely remove it and throw it in the bin for some (albeit minor) weight saving but it was easier to just switch it off - sounded crap anyway...
