Keep my 2.0tdi cr or upgrade to 3.0tdi before starting mods?
Discussion
I'd sooner buy an Audi S5 or at least a 2.0tsfi than put money into tuning a 2.0 diesel.
Don't try and convince yourself that a 2.0tdi with a bigger turbo, larger injectors, intercooler upgrade, exhaust upgrades, dpf removals an all the additional mods required to make it reliable will be a good investment, it will get rather expensive for marginal gains.
I can't think of his name off the top of my head but there is a chap on here who spent a fortune tuning a diesel Scirocco to be one of the quickest diesels in the uk but it always had problems an he ended up breaking it an buying a m135i!

Sounds like you’d be better off getting a car with a more powerful engine stock and *maybe* lightly modding it as you see fit. Putting a lot of money into a car which you’ll never see again when you come to sell it seems a waste to me.
Also, what’s the situation with MOT and emissions for diesel these days? Getting the 2.0 tdi up to 3.0 tdi performance levels would make it fail an MOT wouldn’t it?
I haven’t driven an VAG 3.0 TDIs but my dad’s 3 litte BMW diesels are lovely.

Thanks for everyone replies and I will be taking all your advice and selling the 2 0 tdi A5 and getting something worth sinking money into, namely a vag product with the 3.0bitdi or possibly an jaguar xj supercharged.
Out of those two, you really need to try a supercharged jag, I had a XKR on demo for a week in 2011 as I was trying to convince my boss it could be a awesome pool car... The acceleration an smoothness is super, you really can hustle it along without feeling like you're piloting something so large. it was also one of the first cars I drove with a autobox that offered paddle shift which felt responsive which was quite a novelty, until I drove a mk6 Golf R with Dsg which is significantly sharper as you'd expect.
