I've just ordered the car for £11K off list which seems to be substantially better than can be offered by any other broker or main dealer. As there's precious little discussion on various car forums about buying this car with a discount, I was planning on posting details in case anybody else is on the hunt but as a noob I'm not entirely sure whether or not doing so would break any forum rules?

They seem to have some good deals on a wide range of cars. On the RS4 they're offering up0t to £14k off depending on the trim level chosen. The catch is you have to be a member of the armed forces, emergency services or the NHS.

Having spoken to them, the cars are factory ordered through an Audi dealership to your preferred spec. The finance offered is at slightly better rates than Audi offer without a haggle. I've placed an order though I can’t entirely vouch for the customer service yet but so far everything has been hassle and BS free with no hint of hard sales tactics. Lead time estimated at 14 weeks but I’m fully expecting delays because of the pandemic situation.

I'm interested in your thoughts on the RS5 two years on (assuming you haven't moved it on).

I wondered what the catch was.

I'm seriously thinking of an RS4 for my next car but as you mention there's hardly anything off list price anywhere, is that just how RS pricing works?
(Just a guess, I'm new to the brand).

I've contacted quite a few dealers and the best I've managed so far is 4% discount, doesn't matter if I make a new factory order or take a stock car.

My local dealer actually has my (almost) ideal spec car available immediately but they won't budge on price and have offered a poor p/x price on my current car which is a bit insulting.

Have you driven one OP? I owned an 8V RS3 then a B9 RS4 and now in a M5. I couldn't get on with the RS4, whilst it looked sensational imho it isn't powerful enough from the factory and sits way too close to the RS3 performance wise. The very worst thing though was an almost silent exhaust! Really killed the experience for me.

Get a test drive if you haven't already done so.

I’m new to the brand too so I’m no expert. I don’t believe it’s just an RS thing as I think discounts are slightly easier to come by on the RS3 and 5. Since you’re in the market you’ll know that there is basically only one competitor for this car - the C63 unless you count the rare and expensive Alpina B3 and that probably helps dealers maintain the sticker price. Generally though Audi are definitely stingier with their discounts on RS cars than BMW and Merc are with //M and AMG. Then again for that very reason their residual values are better, so it might even out on PCP (I don’t know for sure as not using that route).

The other thing to consider is the car was only recently face-lifted and it’s likely that they may be better discounts available later in its life cycle.

Thanks for the heads up buddy. I’ve seen your posts on ASN so I know you couldn’t get on with the (lack of) noise. You also clocked yours at mid 3s to 60 IIRC, which is quick enough for me at this point.

I have driven it and and am at peace with the relative lack of drama. I want a rapid family wagon that I can get both kids in the back and that is subtle enough that most people won’t really know what it can do. The vast majority of my driving is so mundane that the additional thrills and involvement of something like an F90 M5 (fabulous car which was briefly on my shortlist) would mostly be wasted on me. Plus I fancied a change from long term Bimmer ownership.

I still love it.. I think it looks decent, very comfortable GT car, big boot, all the tech. Can actually fit people in the back. Turn of speed is ballistic, no other way to put it, the torque it generates is immense. Not many around, as journalists at the time thought it was not sharp enough and most would go for the RS4..

Thanks mate, good to hear. I have to say I can’t recall seeing a B9 RS4 or a new RS5 on the road in recent memory.

If the deal was right, I would probably change my RS5 for an RS4, as would be much easier getting the mountain bike in/out.. I think the RS5 is a tad lighter than the RS4, however many say the RS4 handles a better.. The noise thing does not bother me too much, not sure Audi really wanted it to sing too much..

I've not test driven one yet but does the RS performance exhaust not help with the car's sound appeal or is it a waste of an option?

Sports exhaust helps but if you like loud exhausts it is not the car for you. It is very understated but goes like stink. I have de-badged one in silver that slips nicely under the radar. Very easy to drive fast - possibly too easy for some. I had a RS6 before but that attracted too much attention - for me anyway.

Yeah no worries. I have to say that it looks sensational on the road. When I (rarely) see one it still turns my head!

Ive had a few RS cars and have always managed to get a healthy discount, I got 15% off my current RS6PE and a similar sum off the B8 RS4 that preceded it. No idea what the current situation is and I guess the market could tighten if supply is lower than demand, but I would shop around the brokers, I just don't think RS models are special enough to demand retail but maybe the dealers are being pressured by Audi.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but looking at ordering through the same site and wondering if the OP would have any feedback on your experience / delivery and most importantly....how are you finding the B9 RS4?

OP here.

I actually bailed on the order whilst the car was in production and bought an Alpina B3 instead, as it was always a bit of a grail car for me, so I'm probably not much use to you.

I did get far enough through the process to be absolutely confident in the probity of the broker though - I would use them again and in fact may well do soon as they're listing some cracking discounts on the RS3 that my wife has her eye on (whether they can source the car is another matter). They order their Audis via JCT Lincoln IIRC and the fact they funnel all their business thought that single dealer explains, I presume, the discounts they can achieve. Customer service was excellent with a named contact dealing with the order on hand via email or phone to field queries. The main drawback would be Lincoln is miles away and if there was an issue with the car I doubt the broker would get involved so schlepping up the M1 to get any issue sorted would get old, quickly.

They’re quoting silly lead times at negotiation that magically shrink on order. If you have something to p/x that they fancy you’ll find you jump the queue too.

Got an interesting quote for one.

Dont blame you with the Alpina! I would love a touring...if the B9 is rare then the Alpina is a different level. I have only enquired so far and have found the company pretty helpful and quick to follow up.

@Nickarcher - did you get a healthy discount on the RRP or were they giving you a deal on PCP too? Dont know if i messed up first time round saying i was only looking for a cash purchase. I have a Golf GTi Clubsport 40 at the moment so probably a bit niche for main dealer

Hi, I bought a new B9 RS4 carbon edition at the end of June. It was an in stock car with a good load of extras (comfort and sound pack, exclusive paint, Panoramic roof, performance exhaust, red brake calipers etc). There was a discount and also a good trade in value on my car. At that point an Audi factory order car was a very long wait and due to supplier shortage they had just pulled the panoramic roof from the configurator.

The car is great do everything vehicle. It's not an instant wow sort of car, it's just very impressive and the more you live with it the more impressive its is. Quiet relaxed long haul driving, massive grip levels and enough power to be thoroughly enjoyable but not the sort of power delivery that is always egging you on to be an arse. It's just there whenever you want it. I am very very happy with it.
