Golf Mk7 - Water in Spare Wheel Well

Hi all,

I have noticed the last few times I have driven in the wet that water pools in the spare wheel well.

I have removed the trim and see it is originating from near the rear right tail light. I know the gaskets are prone to going on these but having removed the light the seal seems fine.

Can anyone shed any light on why the location in the picture would be filling up with water (I had dried it before taking picture)? I'm guessing it might be the wheel arch if it's only after driving.

Any ideas on what might need replacing/fixing as I cannot spot any obvious damage?

Check the rubber grommet on the bottom of the boot lid. If that’s missing then the drain pipe for the boot lid has broken off and it just dumps all the water into the boot
