Torque converter gearboxes in Mk5 Golfs?

I once read that some of the earliest MK5 Golfs were sold with proper torque converter automatic gearboxes, rather than the DSG boxes that they all moved to.

Is that true and if so, which models/years were they?

As these cars get older I am much more interested in the reliability of a proper slushbox over DSG.

The only engine available with an auto torque converter was the 1.6 FSI engine. Not sure which trims that was available with, but I’m guessing it will be the pretty basic ones. Not sure how long the 1.6FSI lasted in the mk5 but check Parker’s, they have some useful info sometimes
