PD150 rattling noise
Discussion
Hey all,
I have an ARL PD150 mk4 golf done around 155k miles. I had my turbo replaced in June because I had the typical VNT safe mode rubbish. When It went in to limp mode I had this loud, horrible rattle/tapping noise and the higher the revs the louder it got. Sometimes however, the noise would go but I'd have a loud humming noise as if the exhaust changed note.
I didn't have this problem again for the first 2 weeks after new turbo was fitted but it seems to develop when it feels like it now. More or less when I slow down because of traffic after a long drive or when i stop at lights. Now and again I have it when I start the car, have to turn it off and back on a few times for it to run right.
Some days I also have difficulty starting the car. It will turn over but decide to stall on me and with each turn a lot of bluish smoke comes out the exhaust. It's worse when hot because I either need to let it cool down 20-30 mins or keep cranking 10+ times to start which isn't the healthy option.
The final issue I also have is when it does run okay it's really sluggish until 2000 rpm then the acceleration goes wild until 3k and the powers not so good. First gear is the worst I don't get much power at all.
Last year it had new injector seals, timing belt, camshaft with lifters. This year I've replaced the fuel pump with another OEM, T valve and replaced all fuel lines, also changed the MAF sensor. I've check the cams and lifters tonight I don't see any evidence of wear and tear... I'd assume the injectors were checked last year when the seals were fitted but my assumption could be falsely hopeful.
I've done some fishing online and can't seem to find anything similar to my problem. The closest thing I found was cam wear but this has been looked at now. I've been told numerous things, could be n75, could be 109 relay, boost leak, MAP sensor, crank or temp sensor/ alternator for starting problem. I dont have vag com and dont know anyone that does have it to explain it through.
I'm on furlough, tight on money but still have to work a few days in the week. I can't afford to take guesses and buy this or that nor can I let this keep going to the point where I have no car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Dave.

Has the dmf ever been changed?
They do make some strange noises and I’ve heard they can contribute to starting problems.
To my knowledge it hasn't been done I don't have any paperwork. But isn't it more of a constant thing? Or can it put you into safe/limp mode when the car comes to a complete stop? I.e like just a moment ago when I stopped st works carpark to reverse in to a space is started playing up again. They do make some strange noises and I’ve heard they can contribute to starting problems.
