Mk 7 GTI Service - Bath or Bristol VW?
Discussion
Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with either of these two braches of VW in terms of servicing. My GTI needs an 'oil inspection' in a few days and I want to book it in. Generally I do not trust dealers to take due care with my car and I am very particular having spent a lot of time getting the paintwork mint etc, just looking for some advice and/or ressurance that these guys won't cock it up if I get them to do the work!
I expect this is just an oil change right?

Have you looked for a good specialist near you?
If you want them to touch the car as little as possible though, tell them you don't want the free service wash after I suppose.
Paul Chard at Keynsham, mid way between the two. Been looking after my VW's and Audis for 15 Years. If you want them to touch the car as little as possible though, tell them you don't want the free service wash after I suppose.
I once went to Bath VW as I wanted to buy some wiper blades or something small. They asked if I would like to get my golf put in for a free health check- why not! They ran me into town and when I came back a couple of hours later they’d got the list ready. The list was as long as my arm. No joke. It totalled over £2000. I thanked them and said I’d consider it.
I didn’t get any of it done and continued servicing it at my normal independent garage and the car ran for years without problem until I sold it.
So they seem nice there, but they might find fault with things that an independent would simply say we’ll keep an eye on it”. For an oil change I’d just go with an independent, just because the hourly rate is generally lower...

We have four VWs and I’m not over-impressed with any of the main dealers for Service.
Most are so big that the ‘customer’ is just a small cog in the machine, which is a shame as it puts me off buying any more VWs
In fairness, Bath are quite good, if you don’t mind driving in/out/in/out of Bath.
Inchcape VW Swindon, by the way, are terrible.
They have the most unbelievably shocking Customer Service I’ve ever encountered.
I’ve been trying to get a Warranty issue resolved with a Golf 7.5 GTD they supplied and serviced, since March, and they never respond - despite emails, phone calls, personal visit - nothing.
So, I took the matter up with VW U.K. and they said Swindon would be in touch - but still nothing
Easy option for me - don’t buy another VW and definitely don’t use Inchcape Swindon.

Thats interesting, I've found the service team at Swindon to be great. The sales team were absolute shysters by comparison. Most are so big that the ‘customer’ is just a small cog in the machine, which is a shame as it puts me off buying any more VWs

Prior to using them I used VASS in Bath for servicing my Mk5 Golf GTI and Mk2 TT (https://www.vassofbath.co.uk/). Trips to Bath are infrequent now so the TT goes to Dialynx (https://www.dialynx.co.uk/). Both of whom have been excellent.
