I thought I would get this but I'm struggling so asking here for help. The wheels look familiar and they look like 4 stud and smallish diameter. You can't quite make out the emblem. Ford did an RS wheel very similar and so did BBS and Ronal and others but I can't find an exact match. Its red with a tallish rear deck or spoiler, could even be a kit car.
Next time my friend visits the storage facility he will have a peak but until then I'm guessing and spent too many hours on it already!

Good call but no - Fuego Turbo had similar wheels, but this picture suggests slightly different style....

The car in question has more dished wheels and the 'flat' part between the bolts that is spoked on the Renault.

Could well be corrado. Wheels reminded me of those on a polo g40, but the car looks bigger than that.

Look like BBS RA wheels. Could be a mk2 Scirocco.

If the wheels match up, this was my first thought.

Definitely not an alfa. Look at the short rear overhang. Also looks like BBS RA's - most of those were 4x100.
Based on the above facts im going to say possibly a Honda CRX? Still could be wrong, ride height is ridiculous.

Scratch that. It's a scirocco.
