It looks like the battery on my 2014 manual VW Golf MK7 SE 1.4 TSi is on the way out as a low battery warning popped up last week and despite the battery being on a CTek overnight a couple of days later the stop start system kicked in restarting the car itself when I was sat stationary in a queue of traffic. I have put a multimeter on it and it is showing a resting 12.2v. Physically fitting a new battery is easy and I can get a suitable EFB (not AGM) battery tomorrow from my local motor factors but my question is whether it is as simple as this or do I need to consider any coding issues or the charging rate of the new battery in which case I shall probably need to book it in with my local VW dealer or a battery specialist. Any information very much appreciated as my battery experience is limited to old motorcycles and not modern cars.

It’s simple, done it myself. No coding issues. Car took a few mins afterwards to clear various error messages when it woke up, so don’t be alarmed

Mk7 needs coding in - lots of guides though - easy if you have the equipment
