Looking for some owner advice. Am in the market for a 2015 (face lift) onwards RS6, ideally with lane assist & adaptive cruise however it seems the majority of cars are not spec'd with these options which in turn is narrowing my purchasing options of available cars.

My question is for those that have owned, are these (ideally) must have options or would the advice be don't let an otherwise well spec'd car go if lane assist & adaptive cruise were not on the car?

I have lane assist and adaptive cruise on my S5. Adaptive cruise is brilliant and I use it regularly. The lane assist I never use as it seems to weave from side to side in the lane. I also have blind spot lights on the mirrors which I think comes with one of the cruise or lane assist options, and I don't think I'd now buy a car without it.

I've had a Passat with adaptive cruise and Volvo with lane assist on top. Adaptive was useful for 50mph limits through roadworks but not much else and the lane assist, well, do you find steering difficult?

Just to add... The best gadget I've experienced was HUD on my M3- that's something I really would look for if it's available as an option on the Audi (or even better, standard).

I had the set up on my previous RS4 and found the ACC very useful on long motorway trips, I always switched the lane assist off though and I hated the braking guard. I followed the RS4 with a C7 PE and didn’t spec the assistance pack as I didn’t think it worth the money. ACC would’ve been useful but I didn’t want the other features and I didn’t miss it at all.

They’re epic cars, for me the key options would be DRC and sports exhaust, I had a pano roof but could live without, though it helps come resale.

I had an S7 with ACC and lane assist and when buying my RS7 they were must have options. Took a while to find the right one but very happy to have these options. I did 4 hours of driving yesterday and used them both for most of the trip. When you want to kick back on a long trip they are must have options for me.

I’ve a 2017 rs6 performance and test drove one with lane assist but imo it’s just another option to sell more. I bought without and I’m happy using my eyes when driving. I wanted air suspension also as may need to tow one day. Got pan roof and never use it really.

Awesome motors either way and I’m loving the exhaust noise.

Depends where in the country you are I think, and how much you’re going to use it on the motorways

I had ACC in my Leon, but everytime I drove it into a average speed camera zone it would give up almost immediately and say not available, didn’t matter what time of day, weather or anything, go past the first camera at port Talbot and it would stop working.

Over all it’s good but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker, the motorways where I drive anyway aren’t ever really that busy that you need to intervene a lot with standard cruise.

If I was living in the Home Counties on the m25 then I would really want it, although i find the older systems like thst RS6 would have are a bit dim witted and really slam on the brakes. The latter system in used in a mk8 golf was much smoother and had the ability to bring the car to a stop, use the auto hold to keep it on the brakes and then move away again, my old Leon made you keep your foot on the brake then you had to re engage everytime you moved away.

Personally it wouldn’t be a deal breaker, I haven’t got it anymore and even doing 40k a year I really don’t miss it.

Lane assist was much the same

I thought ACC 'relied' on the car in front?

It uses the car in front to keep a set distance but if there’s nothing in front it just stays at the same speed like normal cruise

Took me ages to find an S6 with it on as had it previously on my BiTDI

Its rare because it was part of the Technology pack advanced (~£3500 option if memory serves me right) and includes teh connect function with Google maps and side assist.
But once you have it you want to keep it, really good for long motorway drives and even on slower roads if you want o stick rigidly to the limit.
Only ever had the brake guard come on once when a car in front stopped part way into a junction so not found it over sensitive

have a look on u tube at some of the videos of the lane assist with a water bottle, it does work quite well laugh
