I’ve had lots of Audi’s, including an S5 V8 Manual, however I recently saw an ad for a 2012 A5 Convertible fitted with the 3.0TFSI engine, which I’ve never seen before - so I snapped it up! And, what an engine - absolutely incredible!

Here she is:

Wish you the best of luck with it!

Have a look at the S4 ownership thread for future expectations...

@Dr G - it has a set of your plates on, so I’m assuming it was supplied by you at some point?

The spec is good, not brilliant, however I only picked it up late last night so need to have a play / explore. It has the big 20” alloys, fully electric seats, front and rear parking assist, heated seats and B&O - which are all the essentials for me. It is missing cruise control and memory seats, which I would have liked.

Cruise control can be retro fitted, I had it done in my old S1 by Hazzy Dayz, and they even came to my house to do it.

I have a 2014 S5 Cabrio - I had it remapped with a stage 1 APR 99 Ron map, and the DSG remap too. The difference is astonishing, it went from ~330bhp to 450bhp with no hardware changes. I highly recommend it!

Great information, thanks. I’ll be fine without cruise control for a while biglaugh

As for a remap, that is an incredible difference. It already feels very, very fast, with a lovely smooth delivery of power!

Only issue I can find this morning is this windscreen rubber. Bit of glue, or silicone?

I've just noticed yours isn't actually an S5, rather an A5 with the same 3.0TFSI. Didn't even know they did that! Presumably it's still supercharged? It seems to have the same CO2 emissions as the S5 at 199g/km, but the bhp is 268 vs 328 of the S5, so presumably a remap would unleash the extra power. Maybe it's already been done?

Yes, I didn’t even know they put this engine in an A5, I had previously only seen it in A6s. Hence why I jumped at the chance to buy it. I have been looking at S5s, but my budget was only going to get me an early model with high miles and poor history, so when I discovered this it seemed a great option. I like the fact it only looks like a basic A5, but with a big lump under the bonet!

As for the engine, I know very little about it. I’m hoping someone will be along soon to enlighten me! The guy I purchased the car from was the third owner, having owned the car for a few years. He seemed pretty conservative, in his 60s, so I doubt he remapped it. But, I guess it could be..

Yeah it'll be supercharged if it is a 2012 vintage. Small pulley and a remap from some silly power!

Don’t think I’ve managed to get over 1,500RPM the last two mornings on the school run... Such a smooth low reving engine... A frustrating time to buy a new car rofl

Yup, I sold it to the previous owner. Small world!

I had this engine in my old A6 saloon. Superb and so rare, I bet it goes nicely in an A4!

Yes, it’s a great engine, very responsive, smooth and loads of power. My only complaint is the engine is so quiet! It would be nice to hear that V6 growl a bit...

Didn’t realise they were that much!
Millteks are one of the better ones to be honest.
