I've put a deposit down for a Golf that's done a high mileage (110k+ on a 16 plate) but it's replacing an MR2 that's just coming up to 140k so swings and roundabouts I guess.

Other than the cambelt change is more than imminent, are there any horror stories with these engines yet? I guess other than reps and minicabs there may not be masses of people over 100k miles in the last five years but interested to know what I should start budgeting for beyond the clutch. In an ideal world, presumably the car has lived its life on dual carriageways and motorways to hit that kind of mileage but I'm aware that's still plenty of other consumables like suspension that would probably benefit from a refresh.

I've cut my teeth in mechanics renovating the MR2 but I'm aware the Golf will be a new level of complexity.

I ran several searches and a lot of threads date back to 2018 when the cars were even newer so not much to go off.

Looked like there were issues on the older 140PS with injectors?

Thanks for any guidance
