Just swapped my rear tyres to the front and put fronts on the rear on my Polo BlueGT. Now the two front tyres (that were originally on the rear) are nosier, might be because of the extra tread or simply down to the tyres themselves? All tyres have around 4 - 5mm of tread left. Seriously considering going for some Goodyear Eagle f1 Asymmetric 5' on each corner. Anyone else experienced the noise issue with the Dunlops before? Would it be worth going for the Goodyears?

Thanks!

Had the same noise issue when acquired my Blue GT. Uneven wear on rear tyres was the cause.
Replaced all 4 with Dunlop SP- it’s like a new car in comparison.
Did read one review which favoured Uniroyals?!

I’ve had this with Dunlop’s on an X5; Also had it was Goodyear, Pirellis, and Bridgestone. The issue is uneven tyre wear, often caused by the amount of cancer being run on the suspension setup.

You may find they quieten down when they bed into their new position. You could also try left to right so they are facing in the opposite direction (unless the are directional?)

If you run you hand over the tread does it catch your fingers and feel like saw teeth?

Do the polos have a rear beam or independent rear suspension? If the latter the alignment might be slightly out and over the years the tyres have worn slightly off.

Had it with my Golf, bought it on all 4 original tyres and swapped front to back when replacing the fronts. The Bridgestones that were from the rear but then on the front made a right racket especially at low speed (was like a wheel bearing had gone). I assume because they had worn slightly odd. New tyres sorted it.

Polos have a rear torsion beam setup. The Dunlops were on the rears when I bought the car in August 2019 and made a bit of road noise back then, so I'm surprised the issue hasn't gone away. Tyres don't feel rough, no saw-toothing either.

Think I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a set of 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5' for £330 (excluding fitting) via Blackcircles.com. It's frustrating how main dealers don't make you aware of these small issues that could lead to a hefty bill in the future.
