Hello!

Does anyone know if the high pressure fuel pump is the same on the TT vs. TTS.

I have just learnt the cam follower is something commonly missed that can cause serious problems on these cars. I hope to inspect this weekend, was just wondering, seems like could be expensive if I find out I have a damaged cam lobe.

I think it’s the cam follower on the EA113 engine that can be the issue. Having said that though, I changed the part at 80k miles and there was no visible wear on the surface, which is where the wear happens.

The part has been revised by VW a couple of times and I understand only the earlier versions (often seen in the Mk5 GTI) caused issues.

What car was it you had it in? I worry as with a TTS it's going to have seen abuse at some point!

A Scirocco R so the same engine in the same state of tune as the TTS.

I do run a thicker oil (5W-40) which may help but that’s only been used since 40k miles.

Changed it and it was barely worn, oh well, peace of mind temporarily restored!

Another one of those problems that seems to get blown out of proportion on the internet.

Agreed.

And many of the cars susceptible to the issue have probably now suffered and been fixed.
