Is there any way of turning of the stop/start permanently?

On earlier cars it could be coded with VCDS etc. to memorise last state (default off or just be off permanently) rather than default to on. I have done this on my S4 but I know on many recent models (e.g. my Wife's Q2) it can't be done for environmental reasons, so not sure on that model?

Otherwise it may be able to be 'tricked' into not working - stop/start only works if certain conditions (load, temp, battery charge etc.) are met so changing the parameters may do the job?

If not there are 'modules' for sale on ebay and the like that will re-activate the last state when engine started so if it was off it will come back on in the off position.

I used a Carista dongle to program start/stop on my 2015 Touareg. Rather than turn it off completely, I set it to remember the last-used switch setting when the ignition was turned off. Looks like it might work on a Q5/SQ5 - Carista website says it can enable/disable stop/start
