I'm thinking of changing the fluids in the quattro system of my A5 TDi Quattro S-Tronic 2016 (old model not current shape)
Audi don't advise this (sealed for life) but to me it seems common sense to change lubricants, it is coming up for 5 years old
What has it got exactly? My R8 has an LSD at the back and a diff at the front for example. Does it have 1 or 2 diffs?

Also timing belt... at next service it will be 4 years & 9 months old with 40,000 miles. Service after that it will be 5 years & 9 months old with 45,000 miles. Recommendation from Audi is 50,000 miles or 5 years. Given low miles, will it likely be fine to the next service?

Not sure which engine you have, but mine, 3.0Tdi CCWA code with the old torque converter has 3 diffs, 1 at the back for the rear wheels, and the other 2 are incorporated into the gearbox, a "transfer case" and the front diff, which to my knowledge both have their own oil, they're all "sealed for life" but I've changed the rear diff oil and I don't see how changing the front diff and transfer case oil will do it any harm.

It's common for manufacturers these days to quote gearboxes as a no-service item, however the S-tronic still has a service interval. In any case I'd wager these are only claims and probably born on the bean counters desk to somehow save a few pennies. You'd do well to change fluids as they are all IMO a wear item.

As for timing belt, I'm not savvy to any recent modern Audi A5 engine having a belt, I thought they all run on a chain.

Send me your chassis number if you'd like to see the actual factory schedule; Audi do not recommend 5 years for belts. On late stuff it's generally 140k. The 5 years is made up by the franchises as a money spinner.

You've the gearbox, front final drive, and model dependent two different oils in the rear diff.

Gearbox oil every 40 essential, the others are not known to give issues, even with leg on them.
