Golf IV 1.6 16v AZD P0170
Discussion
Has anyone ever had this issue or have any idea?
Engine code is AZD its a 1.6 16v.
I'm driving and suddenly I can feel the car ''misfiring'' but I'm not sure if its a misfire, when I stop and let it idle the rpms jump a bit and I can feel its not running smooth, when I start to drive again the car ''kangaroos'' bucking back and forth.
If I let it run idle I get a lot of soot out of the tailpipe and it leaves a black wet spot underneath as if its dumping all the fuel it can into the engine.
I've tried scanning it and the P0170 code came up. LTFT and STFT are both at +25%.
What I've tried:
- Checked plugs, all are black except when the engine suddenly runs smooth again and then the plugs are reddish? (fuel additives?)
- Put in new OEM plugs.
- Replaced pre-cat lambda 2 years ago when I bought the car since it had a faulty lambda code.
- Replaced PCV valve
- Checked vacuum lines and replaced the one from the brake booster to engine
- Switched HT leads around
- Glued shut the flap in the airbox that is suppose to close when the engine gets hot, this wasn't working anymore and only pulled warm air from the exhaust, it now only pulls cold air
- Cleaned the throttle body and adapted it
- Disconnected the egr to see if it was causing it and reconnected it again after a drive, cleaned it aswell
I'm at a loss..
Its been happening every few weeks and comes and goes at random times.
