Hi All,

I have owned my 2014 S3 for 6 months now and I have never got on with the DSG in it, just find it really clunky and lazy. Asked Audi to do a Reset/ Re learn on the box which hasn’t really helped. However it’s started a strange issue.

When braking from about 30/35mph to a stop eg a give way/roundabout the car downshifts 4>3>2 then goes out of gear briefly and then shifts to 1st upon stopping and shudders almost as though the cars about to stall.

Audi have said there’s no codes stored but I suspect the mechatronic unit maybe causing this lazy behaviour. The car has 1 year and 6 months Audi Warranty remaining but I am so sick of the gearbox I’m considering moving to a ZF M140i! It just always appears to be in the wrong gear at the wrong time, coming onto a roundabout at 20mph the car coasts in and is still in 4th gear when pulling off the roundabout in turn making the car feel heavy.

Anyone feel the same way?

Thanks

I've got a 2015 Cupra with the same DSG box, I came from a 2012 FR+ with the same DSG (DQ250). The box in the Cupra definitely feels different (worse).

What you said sounds pretty normal, if you want to set off faster or not get slugged down at roundabouts you need to put it into sport mode or manual on approach so it holds 2nd or 3rd.

I find the pedal flatspot at the start of moving off from standing terrible, its fine if you want to dodder off slowly but if you want to move quickly you can't gauge the power so you end up spinning the wheels too easily.

The 2012 one I had just felt more connected and less sluggish, the car didn't have all the other fancy things either like throttle options.

Has the DSG box ever had a change of fluid and filter? They need doing about every 35000 miles. I had the DSG box in my S5 remapped at the same time an an engine remap. It's like a winchester rifle now. Definately worth doing if you're keeping the car for a while.
