Audi A8 SWB W12 bumper removal - how?
Discussion
After nearly seven years enjoying this 2005 'Q' car my luck has run out - the air compressor now just rattles and fails to compress. Looking on Utube it seemed as though access was easily gained via the wheel arch, so I ordered a 'bagpipingandy' piston ring service kit and set to work - to no avail. It seems the bumper must come off - and I cannot see where the nuts/bolts are - apart from the obvious ones at the front. Nothing on Utube helps much, apart from a Polish (I think) one which is indistinct. Has anyone any bright ideas before I resort to the specialists? Can't say I'm hopeful as there are only about fifty of these on the road here, but with any luck the more common W12 LWBs share the same layout.
The compressor was easy to access via the wheel arch on my old V8 D3, but it does look like you need to remove the bumper on the W12.
From memory, the front bumper was quite easy to remove - just a few screws on the undertray, wheel arch, and above.
The compressor is very easy to rebuild at least (once you've got it out!).
Try the A8Parts forum, there are a few W12 owners on there.
