2014 Audi A4 TDI Running Noise Changed? Now louder/deeper?

Was driving my car yesterday on a short motorway run, after being parked for a week. All seemed normal until I got off the motorway and noticed the car sounds louder / deeper than normal. At first I thought it was DPF regen, but this noise was more deeper / louder than that and I ruled that out as I can see the car was not regening at the time.
Having parked up and restarted a few times, the noise has not gone away, the car now just runs louder and I'm not sure where the noise is coming from or what has caused it, it's not a very loud noise, but the car is just running noticeably louder, especially in the higher RPM's (very noticeable above 2K).
Any ideas where to start / what to look for? I am guessing something has gone wrong with the exhaust system as the noise is a permanent one.
