B8 (2015 onwards) VW Passat
Discussion
Unfortunately I've had to shelve my van project due to a change in circumstances.
To that end I'm looking at a B8 Passat Estate as per the title and have a few questions:
1: Looking at a 2.0 150hp manual version, would you be able to take it up to circa the 184bhp you get in the Golf GTD with just a remap?
2: Any common problems on this age passat? Google seems very vague?
Anymore information you can give about then would be much appreciated

Had the same engine / gearbox in SE business trim. Everytime I had a tyre change constant issues with pressure sensors, had a few limp modes due to wiring connections with engine, loads of issues with epb self releasing when not supposed to.
Tbh its not really a car thats exciting regardless of power, its a big, plain and lazy 60mpg wagon suited towards automatic box.
On a side note I didn't find VW or dealership network supportive, even when it was new and it had a heated windscreen as an extra. I complained about it only working on passengers side and got rudely told to RTFM.

Oh OK fair enough. So I'm guessing it's not as reliable as i've been led to believe?Tbh its not really a car thats exciting regardless of power, its a big, plain and lazy 60mpg wagon suited towards automatic box.

It's either one of these or a similarly aged Mondeo or Superb estate.

To be honest Superb is the same car and same epb fault has occurred on them but as a manufacturer they deny it occurs. It's either one of these or a similarly aged Mondeo or Superb estate.
Overall reliability pretty good only an engine limp got fixed on 3rd visit and then it was in dealership for 5 days :-(
I think we can dismiss tyre sensor issues as being the modern joy of motoring at highstreet tyre centres.
But 3 years and 60k isn't bad. Just more than ever we need good mechanics/garages I think its a dying breed.
