I have an Audi A1 1.0 TFSI (2017) - petrol engine. Recently been having orange steady EPC and EML lights come on the dash, sometimes together, sometimes individually. They seem to come and go for no obvious reason but I'm pretty sure the car has gone into "limp mode" at least once. Mate of mine has looked at the error codes and says he's seeing Charge Pressure Control Actuator: Mechanical Malfunction.

Don't know anything about engines, but he tells me this is something to do with the turbo, and that it may be an actuator (did he say wastegate?). He also says the actuator is moving but not as much as he would expect. The car hasn't been used much for the last year, and has sat idle on the driveway for upto a few weeks at a time.

Is this likely to be fixed by replacing the actuator or are we looking at the whole turbo? Any suggestions gratefully received, as well as potential costs for a garage to fix. Thanks in advance.

My neighbour has just had this problem with her Golf. Which I reckon will be very similar to your Audi. She was told either Turbo or actuator, further investigation needed.

It end up just being the actuator, however it did cost her over £500. (main VW dealership were going to charge nearer 600).

Good luck, hope its the 'cheaper' problem.

Thanks. I have zero experience of turbos but I've done a lot of googling and this seems to be a pretty common fault. I'm also hoping it'll be no more than the actuator. Seems ridiculous to have to pay that much out on a 4yo car that's only done 15K miles but I guess unless you're able to do it yourself you're stuck. We'll see how it goes.
