mk3 Skoda Fabia Wipers won't turn off

Hi all,

I have a 2015 Skoda Fabia (mk3). A couple of times recently the wipers have just starting going despite the stalk being in the OFF position. No matter what I do they won't turn off.

A bit of googling finds a few other queries about this from other Fabia/Polo/Ibiza owners with cars of a similar age.

Does anyone know if there's a simple fix or is the wiper stalk going to need replacing?
