Maybe my Googling isn’t good enough, but cant see a thread on this... my understanding was that there was some kind of licensing issue/disagreement between Audi and Google, so the Earth view on SatNav rather unceremoniously just disappeared.

Assuming thats the case, there must be a load of people experiencing the issue? And beyond that, are there any fixes? I quite like the Earth view because of all the hidden nooks and crannies that I’ve found, using it whilst driving around.

Welcome any info, especially around fixes!

I tried mine yesterday and it was back ('17 A6). Stopped working towards the end of last year but I'm given to understand Audi & Google have reached an agreement, give it a try. I'm assuming mine did an over-the-air update but there was no indication that it happened. Not really any idea how the magyk happens!

Funny you say that

I rarely use it - checked the other day and it hung terribly

It's well documented on some of the popular (non PH) Audi forums.

For my B9 S4 it was under warranty, so I just booked it in for the satellite card update. You will have to ring Audi to see if it is available for your car (best to raise a ticket with Audi digital services before going to your dealership).

If all that fails, there are some knowledgeable independents about that have managed to fix without the hassle of Audi main dealerships

Edited to add: see you have now fixed it. I sometimes get that if I have been driving in areas with poor mobile signal, the next time I switch on, sometimes it doesn't like to pick up the imageary.

No it wasn’t signal/reception. Was the licensing between Audi and Google - resolved now. No call or fix required - just pulled all the Earth graphics down as soon as I toggled it back on.

My 2018 B9 A4 lost Google Earth a month or so ago. Went in for its annual inspection service recently and I mentioned such when I dropped the car off. Was told Audi had not renewed its licence with Google but they had a replacement service (forget the name) and for all intents and purposes it looks/does the same.

There are firmware updates available, which swap the "Google" layer for a "Satellite" one, and use imagery from Maxar. Loads of the Audi-specific forums have threads on all this.

Interesting to see that there may be a resolution without a firmware update, must give that a try. My understanding was that the API had changed, rather than just licensing.

Zero updates here. I’d toggled it off, learned about the issue and by the time I’d finished with covid and all that, it was resolved by turning the Google Earth option back on. Nothing more.

My Dealer had to do the update - didn't cost me anything, but I had already expressed large displeasure that it just stopped working!

Seems to gone again now, happened about a couple of weeks ago when my connect account ran out. Re-activated the account and still no sign of it.

+1

Any definitive lines on a fix? Or is it "back to Audi"?

The same happened on my 718 Boxster.
There was an FOC upgrade through Porsche that bought it all back to life.
Some sort of licencing agreement that was lapsed or something.

Not 100% related but saves another similar thread.

Drove OH’s 18 plate Q2 back from Yorkshire today and it determinedly would not find a route using the Humber Bridge until I was literally in sight of it.

Why would this be?

Checked settings and toll roads was selected - just seemed to make some really strange decisions in terms of route. What am I missing in terms of the settings?
