Hi folks

This week I picked up a Mk 7 Golf R - absolutely love it so far, only one thing I need to get done...

On the climate panel in the center console, the LCD displays which show you the selected temperature for driver/passenger are corrupted - so instead of it saying "LO" it's more like "LT" and rather than "18.5" it's just garbled nonsense.

I spoke to my local VW dealer and they quoted me 600 quid for the replacement part! hahahha.

these look commonplace on ebay (about 50-75 quid) and they look like a simple enough part to swap out, but if I replaced it with a second hand part would I need to do any coding or VW specific magic to get it to work on my car?

If anyone has any information about this I'd be very grateful!

Cheers

for reference I've attached a pic of one i found on ebay...

Should be a sticker with a part number on and possibly a softeware number, just get matching and its a straight fit.

I've never swapped that specific panel but you may well need someone to disable component protection for you.

OK thank you I will have to look into that - is it only VW dealers who can do that? Or can I use something like ODBeleven?

Quick update on this in case anyone else is in a similar position.

It's a 15 minute job to replace the part, and there's no coding involved whatsoever. Everything on mine just works fine now, so I'm a happy bunny

Cheers
