Golf Mk6 Gti adaptive damper replacement
Discussion
Hi all, I recently bought a 2010 Mk6 GTI with 120,000 miles on the clock. Got it for a good price so couldn't say no really. I am looking to refresh the suspension though but the car has DCC adaptive electronic suspension. Having done a quick search for replacement components the prices are eye wateringly high. I'm not into modifying, lowering and whatnot so was wondering if I could get standard GTI shocks and springs and put them on? Would there be any way to get rid of the warning lights if the system detects that non adaptive parts have been fitted? Thanks
Almost certainly yes, that's possible.

The adaptive dampers are very good but as you say they are also very expensive, circa £250 each. I believe they are made by Monroe.
If you fitted normal shocks, as far as I'm aware the only error you get is the sport / normal / comfort selection button flashing. You could simply disconnect the switch or possibly code out using VCDS. I also think KW do ridiculously expensive resistors that you can plug into the harness at each shock to "fool it".
ETA: corrected manufacturer as Monroe.

Thanks for the replies. I am tempted to put on normal shocks but I’ve read of there being errors with xenon self levelling and ABS and traction control. Would also affect resale value.
The alternative is to buy used electronic dampers i’ve seen a few for sale that have come off Sciroccos and Mk6 R’s with 60k mileage.
